At Kritsa.net we concur with the Lonely Planet guide that Kritsa is "a charmer from every angle" (LP Crete, 2000). The area surrounding Kritsa is famed for the church of Panagia Kera and the Lato ruins, an important archaeological site from the Dorian period. The village is probably most recognisable to the tourist for its fabric sales, whole streets being lined with cloth, lace, linen, rugs and the likes. In recent years these have been joined by all kinds of other shops and offices including leather and olive wood, art, gifts and property agents. It is one of the largest villages on the island and has a large school, football team and ground, churches and chapels, bank, ATM and civic facilities.

Kritsa offers places to dine and a number of small kafenion and tavernas. A regular bus service connects Kritsa to Agios Nikolaos and it has ample parking for those who visit by coach or car. For anyone deciding to stay in the village there are a number of hotel or self contained apartments to choose from. It is an essential day trip for anyone stying in the Agios Nikolaos, Elounda or Plaka area or a great place for anyone travelling round Crete to stop off and spend a few days exploring the local sites of interest.
